Under and Beyond is an Underground hip-hop radio show that I started in late 2000 at WNUR-FM 89.3 in Chicago.

To this day I continue to do the show, and continue to grow and expand Under and Beyond into bigger and better things. The show originally started out as a laizze fairre program consisting of mostly independent and political hip-hop. Now the show has grown into an integration of local Chicago artists with an infusion of new music and the addition of classic/old school hip-hop, while maintaining the dedication to the shows roots.

The show is now broken down into 6 different segments spanning over a 3 hour period:

11pm: The 11 O'Clock Jumpstart consisting of an hours worth of clean/edited hip-hop new and old with a fresh mix of instrumental hip-hop along with political music.

11:30 Showdown This originally started as a concept to put rappers head to head in a battle type setting but eventually I thought that as being counter-productive so it has evolved into a 5-10 minute run down of hip-hop concerts and events in the Chicago area.

12am: Midnight Movement: This is perhaps one of the hottest and freshest segments in radio anywhere. From 12-12:30 every Thursday night/Friday morning only the best new independent hip-hop is spun. Un-cut and Un-censored bangin out world premeirs, exclusive interviews, and breaking previously unheard to the world artists. Since ive always wanted to be in a position to break new music and new artists this serves as the ultimate goal of my show. This is the part of Under and Beyond that I hope everybody tunes into weekly.

Furthermore, I accept material from any hip-hop artist trying to get airplay, however I ask that the music be independent in nature and not follow the bullshit trends on radio or in mainstream life, I dont want to hear about money or cars or gold chains in your music or il throw the CD in the trash and thats how the shit goes.

12:30: Chicago's Finest: At this point we transition from purely new music to a set of independent Chicago artists, there have been a ton of new Chicago artists broke on Chicago's Finest, and before the segment we always opened the door to Chicago artists.We will occasionally do in-studio interviews with some of these artists and that will usually go into the next segment into the 1 O'clock hour

1am Backsmack: Simple, the 1am Backsmack is all about takin people back in the day droppin classics and old school joints mainly from the 80's and early to mid 90's. The hip-hop that I grew up with is always in the mix between 1:00-1:30

1:30am: Finishing Touches: Whatever I missed earlier in the show that I wanted to play but didn't have the time I throw on between 1:30 and 2am to put the finsihing touches on Under and Beyond. Though requests are takin throughout the show, most likely this is the time that I will blend them in At the end of the show the playlists are recapped, and thats it.
